Description

FUNDED TRAINING A trained Companion facilitates all programs, providing a safe and creative way to explore feelings, memories, loss and grief. Companions can be teachers, psychologists, chaplains, nurses, counsellors, social workers or anyone who feels that they are well placed to offer the programs within their community.

Outcome

To become a Companion, individuals participate in a two-day training program for Seasons for Growth and one day for Stormbirds, facilitated by a skilled and accredited trainer. This involves engaging with the theory and principles underpinning the programs, experiencing the content, practicing the skills necessary to implement it well, and reflecting on the possibilities and limitations of their role so as to ensure a safe, quality learning experience for the participants they companion.
Note:
  • Registration must be completed by the individual attending the training.
  • If you are employed by a NSW Govt School, you will need to have an APPROVED PURCHASE ORDER prior to registering and purchasing this training event.
Additional Information
By Invitation Only - Black Summer bushfire funding - Central Coast and Lake Macquarie area.
Train FACE TO FACE to become a certified Seasons for Growth Companion in the Children and Young People's Program.
This professional development training is delivered over 2 days by an authorised Good Grief Trainer and enables educators and professionals to run Seasons for Growth Groups within their community.
The recommended group size is 4 to 7 participants. This is to ensure Companion and participant safety and to support the development of effective group dynamics. The small group programs are not designed to be used in one-on-one counselling, or as a larger group or whole class program.
All potential Companions must be endorsed by their employer or organisation (school, government or non-government organisation, parish etc.). They also need to agree to a criminal background check within their state or territory and have clearance to work with children if facilitating the Stormbirds or Seasons for Growth Children and Young People's Program.
Only trained Companions can order and use the Seasons for Growth program materials.
Included: GST, Companion manual and copy of program journal(s) (mailed to you after the training event). Training details are emailed the Friday prior to commencement.
